Amazon.de account health: 5 metrics before the warning comes
Short answer
Amazon measures sellers continuously on a few metrics; if you miss a target, you risk restrictions up to deactivation. Look at five of them every week: order defect rate, cancellation rate, late shipment rate, valid tracking rate and on‑time delivery rate. The last four apply only to orders fulfilled by the seller.
Why you shouldn’t wait for the warning
Amazon checks the performance of all sellers regularly and gets in touch when requirements are not met. Accounts with very poor performance can be deactivated; reinstatement is then only possible through an appeal with a plan of action.1
Most figures are rolling periods of 7 to 60 days. One bad day therefore has an effect for weeks. If you look every week, you notice a trend while it can still be turned around. Amazon also shows the Account Health Rating, a colour‑coded score from 0 to 1,000 that mainly reflects whether you follow the selling policies.5
The five metrics at a glance
| Metric | Target according to Amazon | Where you see it | What you do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Order defect rate (60 days) | under 1%12 | Account Health dashboard, customer service | Resolve enquiries quickly, before an A‑to‑z Guarantee claim is filed |
| Cancellation rate before shipping (7 days, seller‑fulfilled) | under 2.5%12 | Account Health dashboard, shipping | Match stock with your store every day |
| Late shipment rate (10 or 30 days, seller‑fulfilled) | under 4%12 | Account Health dashboard, shipping | Confirm shipment on the day of handover |
| Valid tracking rate (30 days, per category, seller‑fulfilled) | at least 95%23 | Account Health dashboard, shipping | Choose the carrier from the list, enter the number when confirming shipment |
| On‑time delivery rate (seller‑fulfilled) | at least 90%, since 15 July 20264 | Account Health dashboard4 | Set handling and transit time realistically |
Customer service and shipping are the sections of the dashboard that Amazon names in its policy.2
Order defect rate: three kinds of defect
An order counts as defective if it has negative feedback, an A‑to‑z Guarantee claim that was not rejected, or a credit card chargeback. Amazon calculates the share of these orders over 60 days; the target is under 1%.1
An example: with 100 orders in 60 days, a single defective order already brings the rate to 1%. Small stores therefore feel this metric sooner than large ones.
Cancellation rate, shipment confirmation and tracking
The cancellation rate counts all cancellations that you as the seller initiate, over 7 days; cancellations that customers make themselves in their Amazon account do not count.1 One cause in your own hands: an item is sold but no longer in stock. So match the stock of your store and the marketplace every day.
The name late shipment rate is misleading: it measures whether you confirmed shipment by the expected ship date, not when the parcel arrives.1 So confirm on the day you hand the parcel to the carrier.
For the valid tracking rate, you enter the carrier and the tracking number when you confirm shipment; Amazon calculates it per category, and domestic shipments under €20 do not count. If it falls below 95% in a category, Amazon can restrict your sales without Fulfilment by Amazon in that category.23
On‑time delivery rate: the new requirement since July 2026
Since 15 July 2026, Amazon.de has required an on‑time delivery rate of 90% or higher for seller‑fulfilled orders. It measures how many units are delivered on or before the promised “delivery by” date.4
Since 1 September 2026, if you miss it, affected offers can be deactivated, or you lose the option to list new products as seller‑fulfilled. Since 15 July 2026, the account settings only offer 0 or 1 day as the default handling time; settings of 2 days were changed to 1 day.4
The delivery promise comes from your handling and transit time. Set both to match how your warehouse and your carrier actually work, including on public holidays and in peak season.
The weekly check to copy
Once a week, always on the same day, ten minutes. Enter the figures, and for every figure that misses its target write down the next step.

Frequently asked questions
What is the Account Health Rating?
A colour‑coded score from 0 to 1,000 on your Account Health page. It is based mainly on whether you follow the selling policies; a score above 200 already counts as positive.
Do orders fulfilled by Amazon count?
Amazon’s documents do not limit the order defect rate to seller‑fulfilled orders; your dashboard shows which orders are included. The cancellation rate, late shipment rate, valid tracking rate and on‑time delivery rate apply only to seller‑fulfilled orders.
What happens if a figure misses its target?
Amazon can restrict selling privileges, deactivate offers or deactivate the account. For reinstatement, you file an appeal and submit a plan of action that describes the causes and how you have fixed them.
